I once said "Don't piss me off, I'll put you in a book" to a dude who really annoyed me. Eventually I threatened to put him in a book I was writing, make his character really stupid and then kill him off.
I don't think I ever actually got around to fulfilling my threat, but it's unpublished anyway, so he doesn't know. But after some counsel that, given thought, proved wise under the circumstances, I decided to adjust the turn of phrase to suit milder tastes despite the intended underlying message; someone short and unassuming might read it and repeat it aloud.
Cheeks would turn red on taller, less unassuming individuals. I decided to have mercy.
